I love judging famous people.

The SAG Awards were held last night, and while I didn't watch (because I'm the one person in America without cable tv), I've spent the morning poring over photos of the Hollywood elite. I've gotta say, I'm not impressed this time around.  Lots of misses from the ladies-- which is great for you readers, because now you get to hear my snarky comments about them, you lucky dogs.  You can check out all of the arrival photos over at People and make your own judgements.  Here are mine, in no particular order...

The Good:
Zoe Saldana in Givenchy.  She took a risk and it paid off in droves. Those bejeweled daggers at the sleeves & neckline are fierce.  Love the contrast of them with the easy, almost casual feel of the dress.
Emma Stone in Alexander McQueen.  My girl was another risk-taker in a kicky, vintage-inspired dress.  Love the length, love the styling, love her.  But you knew that already.
Jayma Mays in Reem Acra.  She sparkled-- literally-- in her black cap-sleeve sequin gown. It's not easy for a small woman to wear a completely embellished dress without looking weighed-down, but she pulled it off beautifully. And check out the gorgeous lace detail on the back.

The Less Fortunate:
Angelina Jolie in Jenny Peckham, sporting a sad Project Runway make-a-gown-from-a-garbage-bag look.
Kristen Wiig in Balenciaga, perpetuating the stereotype that women can't be funny and hot. The dress would've been totally passable, but that choker?  Her stylist should be fired immediately.
(You knew it was coming!) Lea Michele in Versace, still looking tacky.  The "undone" hair, the slit-to-there skirt, the pointy pumps... she seems like she tries SO hard to look "effortlessly sexy" but instead winds up looking cheap.  Maybe I just really don't like her. What say you, muffins?
Heather Morris in Masai Payan, not helping improve the reputation of the Glee girls with her awkwardly cut & constructed 80s-inspired black dress. She & Lea are lucky Jayma was there to overshadow their poor choices.
Kaley Cuoco in Romona Keveza, aren't we over the princess gowns yet?  It's such a tired look.  And I'm not just saying that because my boyfriend thinks you're super hot.
Glenn Close in Zac Posen, I know you are a legend, but what. the. hell. was that dress about?  Yikes.  Zac steered you wrong on this one.

I love judging famous people.

Did you watch the Golden Globes?  I, of course, mainly tuned into the red carpet arrivals so I could cast judgement onto the rich & famous as if my opinion means anything to anyone other than myself and my mother (and that's only so she can say the exact opposite of whatever I think about any given starlet).  You can see many of the stars' arrival photos here over at People.  So go forth and cast your own fashion verdict!  And, just in case you're curious, here are my picks.

Best Dressed:
Emma Stone in Lanvin.  This girl really knows how to come off as fresh & ever-so-slightly edgy without ever ever ever crossing the line into cheap & trashy territory.
Michelle Williams in Jason Wu.  My favorite designer of 2011 on one of my favorite actresses ever.
Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann.  What can you even say about her?  She's Swinton and she completely works it.

Most Unfortunately Dressed:
Lea Michele in Marchesa.  Granted, I am not a fan, but after Lea's tragic showing at the People's Choice Awards earlier this week (where her dress looked to be made of certain pieces of certain feminine hygiene products) I thought she might make a step toward redeeming herself tonight.  Instead she opted for this Ice Capades costume.  What's the deal, Marchesa?  We all know you're better than this.

You guys.  Jason Wu for Target is coming!  Who wants to camp outside the store with me on the eve of the collection's release so we can be the first to purchase these glorious wares?  In stores February 5th.  Here's a sneak peek-- totally ladylike and lovely!

Ho Ho Ho!

The original version of this skit is my favorite Christmas video ever, but I think this one totally does it justice! Happy holidays, kittens. xoxo

Hi-ho Hi-ho

In a few hours I'll be leaving for my first business trip.  I'll be traveling with my boss.  Just me and her, in a car, together, for over 4 hours.  Fortunately we genuinely like each other, and we've worked together for a few years... but there is still great potential for many awkward moments during a 4-hour road trip!  Plus another 4 hours when we drive back in two days.  Plus we'll be eating all of our meals together and working side-by-side the entire time we're away.  Oh, and we'll be meeting with her boss as well.  Yikes.  Here's hoping I don't make a huge ass of myself!

Thought Bubble

I am preparing to do some holiday baking for the second night in a row.  And, for the second night in a row, my preparation involves putting on red lipstick.  I think I must subconsciously channel Lucy Ricardo when I'm cooking.
